Research into court and masque theatre music in England. Consider the following points: When was it popular? What were the differences between court comedies and masques? What were their purposes? What about the Music? Identify main composers of this genre. Please read widely into this topic. The Grove Online Dictionary is a useful source, as is Grout's A History of Western Music , which can be found in the Beaumont School Library. Useful information can also be found here in Buelow's book A History of Baroque Music . Please also write a short synopsis of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas and The Fairy Queen .
